IF THE CITY COULD TALK
If the City Could Talk is a surreal, site-responsive dance-theatre work that brings the inner voices of New York City to life. Conceived and choreographed by Ashley Cassetta and produced by Project III, the piece guides audiences through a dreamlike landscape of movement, voice, and sensory immersion. Featuring four archetypal characters—the Idealist, the Narcissist, the Burnout, and the Faded Icon—the performance captures the psychological weight of city life and the persistence of artistic belief. With costume design by Taryn Winters and a soundscape by Haley Redfern incorporating real NYC performer interviews, the work offers a poignant portrait of identity, ambition, and creative resilience. First presented as a work-in-progress at Ki Smith Gallery in July 2024, If the City Could Talk reclaims immersive performance as a space for liminal memory and emotional truth.
